Frequently Asked Questions

The FAA requires a minimum of 40 flight hours, but the national average is around 60-70 hours. At Ace Flight Center, most students complete their training in 3-6 months, depending on how frequently they fly. We recommend flying at least 2-3 times per week for optimal progress.

To start training, you must be at least 16 years old (14 for gliders), be able to read, speak, and understand English, and obtain at least a Third-Class FAA medical certificate. We recommend getting your medical certificate before starting training to ensure there are no medical issues that could prevent you from flying.

Yes! Certificated pilots who complete our checkout process can rent aircraft for solo flights. The checkout includes a review of your certificates, a ground briefing on our operating procedures, and a flight evaluation with one of our instructors. Current insurance and medical certificates are required.
